BRIEF: Boy fights off man who tried to sexually abuse him at Rainbow Beach

March 27--Police say a man tried to sexually assault a boy after exposing himself at Rainbow Beach in the South Shore neighborhood.

Police said the man, thought to be between 30 and 35 years old, approached the boy in the 7400 block of South South Shore Drive about 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The man grabbed the boy by the shoulder and walked him to Rainbow Beach, near the water, where the man pulled down his own pants, police said.

The man turned the boy to face him and tried to pull down the boy's pants, police said. The boy punched the man in the genitals and fled, police said. Police did not give the age of the boy.

The man was described as black with a dark complexion and a goatee. He was 5-foot-6, about 200 pounds and had two or three teardrop tattoos on his face near one of his eyes, police said. He was wearing a green hooded sweatshirt and black and white "Jordan" gym shoes.

Anyone with information can contact detectives at 312-492-3810.
