BRIEF: Police: Man tried to lure boy on Northwest Side

Feb. 05--A man tried to lure a boy in the Norwood Park East neighborhood on the Northwest Side about two weeks ago, police said.

A boy was walking home in the 5600 block of North McVicker Avenue around 8 p.m. on Jan. 21 when he became aware that a vehicle was following him, according to an alert from Chicago Police Department.

The boy started to jog away, but the vehicle sped up to be adjacent to him. A man, seated on the front passenger seat of the vehicle, shouted at the boy: "Get over here," according to the alert.

The boy then ran to home and alerted his parents who called 911.

The suspect is a black man who is between 25 and 25 yeas old. The man has a dark complexion and was wearing a hoodie. No description of the vehicle's driver is available, the alert said.

The vehicle is described as a black four-door sedan of an unknown make or model.

Anyone with information about the suspect or the incident should contact Area North detectives at 312-744-8200.
