Police: Man runs over, kills his father in homicide, hurts 2 family members

Feb. 14--A man ran over and killed his father and hurt two other people Saturday evening after a domestic-related incident in the North Austin neighborhood on the West Side, police said.

The incident happened around 11:15 p.m. in the 5400 block of West Kamerling Avenue, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a Chicago police spokesman.

Police said a 19-year-old man hit his own father and two other family members with a rental car as he tried to drive off after a domestic fight.

A 39-year-old man, identified as Terrell Peters of the 500 block of West 66th Street, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:02 a.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

An autopsy determined that Peters died of multiple blunt force injuries after being struck by the vehicle and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the office.

Peters, a longtime Chicago resident, has lived on Kensington Drive in northwest suburban Streamwood in recent years, according to public records, which indicate his driver's license still is registered to the 66th Street address.

Two other people, a male and a female, were taken to West Suburban Medical Center, where their conditions had stabilized, Alfaro said.

No one was in custody as of Sunday morning, and no other information about the incident was available as of about 9 a.m.
