BRIEF: Police: Man robbing bank customers on Southwest Side

Oct. 17--Chicago police are warning Chicago Lawn District residents of a man who's robbed at least three people in a bank parking lot in the area over the last month, most recently Thursday.

The man robbed someone about 10:05 a.m. Thursday in the parking lot of a Scottsdale neighborhood bank in the 4700 block of West 79th Street, according to an alert issued Friday by Area Central detectives. The only bank listed in the block is a Chase Bank branch at 4730 W. 79th.

People previously have been robbed at the same location about 9:10 a.m. on Sept. 30 and about 10:10 a.m. on Sept. 16, according to the alert.

The man has demanded or forced people to give up cash and other property, according to police.

The man was described as black, with black hair, between 5-foot-3 and 6-foot-2, between the ages of 20 and 45, and weighing 160 to 240 pounds. In the robbery Thursday, he was wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans, according to police.

Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to call detectives at 312-747-8382, or 911.
