July 13--A 61-year-old man died after he jumped onto the Red Line tracks to chase after a beach ball early Monday, according to police.
The man touched the electrified third rail at about 12:35 a.m. at the Red Line stop at Harrison Street, police said.
A train was pulling into the station at the time but was able to stop, authorities said.
Area Central detectives were conducting a death investigation.
