May 11--A 57-year-old man has been charged with a series of burglaries after being arrested last week at a burglary in progress on Chicago's Far North Side, police said.
Marcus Jones, no home address available, was arrested about 1:40 a.m. Thursday in the 1500 block of West Morse Avenue in the Rogers Park neighborhood, Chicago police said in a release Monday. Police had been called to the scene regarding a burglary in progress, and when they arrived, they found Jones inside with a shopping cart full of office equipment and in possession of a pry bar, the release said.
After arresting him, detectives were able to connect Jones to several condominium burglaries in the area, and he was charged with five felony counts of burglary and one felony count of possession of burglary tools. Police are continuing to investigate possible connections to other burglaries.
Jones was ordered held on $100,000 bond by Cook County Associate Judge Peggy Chiampas, according to court records.
According to court records, Jones, under multiple names, has been charged with numerous burglaries dating to the 1980s.
