BRIEF: Police investigate woman's death in Alsip

July 14--The death of a woman found unresponsive inside her southwest suburban apartment is under investigation by Alsip police.

Tanessia Ray, 31, of the 4300 block of West Park Lane Drive in Alsip, was found dead after police arrived at the Park Lane apartment about 8:23 p.m. Monday night, Alsip police said in a press release Tuesday morning. She was pronounced dead at 8:34 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Alsip Deputy Chief Jay Miller said the woman was found by family. Miller said he is not ready to call the incident a homicide, saying it is a "death investigation" at this point.

The Alsip Police Department is investigating in conjunction with the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force, the release said.
