June 01--Someone fired gunshots at a car on Lake Shore Drive on the Near North Side early Wednesday, according to police.
About 2:10 a.m. in the Gold Coast neighborhood, a 22-year-old man was driving north in the 1200 block of North Lake Shore Drive when a dark SUV pulled up and a passenger fired shots at him, said Officer Laura Amezaga, a police spokeswoman.
The man's car was damaged, but no one was hurt in the shooting, Amezaga said.
Shootings on Chicago-area expressways have been on the rise in the past couple of years. So far in 2016, at least 20 people have been shot on the Cook County interstate system, according to Illinois State Police.
