March 21--An exit ramp on the Edens Expressway was briefly shut down Monday morning after police received reports of gunfire following an apparent road-rage incident, according to the Illinois State Police.
However, as of late morning, no shell casings had been found, police said.
An altercation between people in two vehicles began on the northbound Edens (Interstate 94) at Wilson Avenue about 7:30 a.m., according to Trooper Woodrow Montgomery.
When one vehicle exited the expressway at the westbound Touhy Avenue ramp near the border of Chicago, Lincolnwood and Skokie, the other vehicle followed and revealed a silver handgun, Montgomery said. The victim told investigators that the offender fired one or two rounds at the victim's vehicle, Montgomery said.
The victim wasn't hurt and the victim's vehicle wasn't damaged.
State police closed the westbound Touhy exit for about 30 minutes while they combed the ramp for evidence, according to Sgt. Jason Bradley. No shell casing were found, Bradley said.
All lanes have been reopened. The incident remains under investigation.
