BRIEF: Police investigate after man found dead in Geneva home

Jan. 29--Geneva police are investigating the death of a man found inside his home Thursday night, police Cmdr. Julie Nash said Friday.

Police were asked by "an external source" to conduct a well-being check at a home in the first block of Crissey Avenue, east of the Fox River and south of State Street (Illinois Highway 38) in the western suburb. A man in his 50s was found dead, Nash said, and a family member also was present in the home when police arrived.

A death investigation is being conducted, Nash said. There were no signs of a break-in, and there is no risk to the public related to the man's death, she said. No one is in custody, she said.

An autopsy is scheduled for later Friday by the Kane County coroner's office. The Kane County Major Crimes Task Force is assisting with the investigation, Nash said.
