Oct. 01--A 25-year-old man was shot overnight in Niles in what police said appears to be the result of a dispute.
No one is in custody in connection with the shooting, according to a news release issued Thursday morning from the Niles Police Department.
Police were called to the backyard of a residence in the 9000 block of Churchill Circle at 1:24 a.m. and found the victim, who is from Niles, with "a single gunshot wound to the right calf and the left ankle," according to the news release.
The victim was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital to be treated for his injuries.
Officers set up a perimeter in the area of incident. The Evanston Police Department's canine unit assisted. At 1:55 a.m. the perimeter was opened when the shooter could not be located, police said.
The incident appears to be a dispute between the victim and at least one other person, according to the release. Police said there is no threat to the community at this time.
The investigation is continuing.
