BRIEF: Police identify suspect being held in Griffith Park attack

Nov. 05--Police have identified the 54-year-old man who was arrested Monday evening on suspicion of trying to kill another man at Griffith Park.

Tyrone Contino Isumu was taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder. The victim who was found by two hikers along a trail about 2:30 p.m. Monday, Los Angeles Police Officer Jack Richter said.

The man was airlifted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

He suffered head trauma and his teeth were damaged during the attack near the 2200 block of Fern Dell Drive, Richter said.

The man will probably survive, but he was seriously hurt, Richter said.

Police said both men are homeless and were involved in a dispute.

Isumu's bail was set at $500,000, according to booking information from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
