BRIEF: Police hunt for flasher preying on girls in Long Beach

March 05--Long Beach police are looking for a flasher who is preying on kids outside of neighborhood schools.

From Feb. 11 to Wednesday, Long Beach police have received six reports of a man masturbating or otherwise exposing himself to girls while he sits in the passenger seat of a parked car near two schools.

The incidents occur during the morning when kids are walking to school in about a 10-block area between Jefferson Leadership Academies middle school and Willard Elementary School, police said. The area is between Euclid and Coronado avenues and 7th and 10th streets.

The flasher is described as a white man between 24 and 35 years old with brown hair, wearing a black shirt and black Dickie pants. He drives a white passenger vehicle with tinted windows.

On several of the occasions, the man has called out to children to walk closer to him and in one instance, he tried to grab a girl but she ran away, police said.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or his vehicle is asked to call Long Beach police Det. Adriana Jaurigui at (562) 570-7372. Anonymous tips can be called into (800) 222-TIPS (8477).
