March 08--A Florida man was charged after security officials said they found a loaded handgun in his carry-on briefcase Saturday at the Midway International Airport, authorities said.
Kurt Young, 46, of Tampa, was going through a security checkpoint at Midway around 4:55 a.m. Saturday when an X-ray machine revealed there was a weapon inside his carry-on, said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Ana Pacheco.
Young was arrested and charged with one misdemeanor count of carrying a concealed firearm at the airport, Pacheco said.
His bail was set at $15,000 and he bonded out later, Pacheco said.
Young's next court date is scheduled for April 24, police said.
