BRIEF: Police charge man after people trying to buy drugs were robbed

Oct. 23--A Plainfield man and two youths were arrested Oct. 14 and charged with armed robbery after police were alerted to a drug sale gone bad. Police said they were called "by the people getting ripped off."

Erik Solis-Medina, 19, of the 23000 block of Arbor Creek Drive, was charged with armed robbery after police found him at 5:49 p.m. at a home near the planned site of the drug deal in a parking lot in the 11800 block of South Route 59.

Two minors also were charged with armed robbery.

Two people who planned to swap Ecstasy with Solis-Medina for cash and potentially cocaine were not charged, said Sgt. Mike Fisher. No drugs were found, Fisher added.

Police said a knife and baton were used in the armed robbery. Police found the baton, but the knife was discarded from the car, police were told.

Plainfield Sgt. Kevin McQuid said he does not know how much money was taken in the incident.
