BRIEF: Police: Building owner found possible skulls on South Side

Jan. 19--Someone working in a South Side building found what may be five human skulls Monday morning, according to authorities.

Chicago police were called to the 200 block of West Root Street at 11:40 a.m. where a Fuller Park building owner discovered "unusual objects," according to Officer Michelle Tannehill, a police spokeswoman.

The man was digging in the floor of a warehouse and found five skulls and maybe a jawbone, police said, citing preliminary information. Detectives and the Cook County medical examiner's office are responding.

Police have removed evidence bags from the building and they will be taken to the medical examiner's office.

A "for-sale" sign on the building, at the southwest corner of Root and Wells streets, advertises a 10,000-square-foot facility with a loading dock.
