BRIEF: Police: Boy accused of Rogers Park shooting

June 11--A juvenile was charged with attempted murder following a shooting earlier this month in the Rogers Park neighborhood, police said.

The boy was charged as an adult with aggravated battery and attempted murder, police said. The boy, who is scheduled to appear for a bond hearing Thursday afternoon at the Leighton Criminal Court Building, is also wanted on a warrant.

He is accused of shooting a 22-year-old man in the 7600 block of North Ashland Avenue about 1:20 p.m. June 2, police said.

The 22-year-old was on the street when a man in a black hooded sweatshirt approached him on foot and started firing a gun, then fled, possibly in a red vehicle, police said at the time.

At the time, police said the victim, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his neck and torso, was in critical condition at Presence St. Francis Hospital in Evanston.
