June 27--Los Angeles Police Department detectives on Friday morning arrested a juvenile suspected of robbing a man and setting him on fire earlier this week.

The incident occurred at 2:30 a.m. Monday in the 500 block of Union Avenue in the Pico-Union area. Police said the 16-year-old assailant allegedly robbed a man who was sleeping near an apartment complex, then set him on fire.

The 28-year-old victim was taken to a local hospital with second- and third-degree burns, according to Lt. Cliff Humphris of the Rampart Division.

The suspect was arrested early Friday morning and charged with robbery and attempted murder. Neither he nor the victim was identified.
