BRIEF: Police alert residents of recent burglaries in Austin neighborhood

Sept. 09--Police are warning residents in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side of a string of recent burglaries.

Three burglaries took place between Aug. 26 and Friday, according to a release from the Chicago Police Department.

In all three incidents, burglars entered residences through an unlocked window or rear door and stole property, according to police.

The latest incident occurred between noon and 5 p.m. Friday in the 4800 block of West Race Avenue, authorities said.

The second burglary happened around 2 a.m. Sept. 2 in the 400 block of North Lawler Avenue, and the first incident took place in the 4800 block of West Huron Street between 10 a.m. and 8:20 p.m. Aug. 26, according to police.
