BRIEF: Police alert: Armed gunmen rob three stores on Northwest Side

March 25--Police have sent out an alert to businesses in Albany Park on the Northwest Side after gunmen robbed three convenience stores this month, pistol-whipping clerks in two of the stores.

In each incident, two to three robbers armed with handguns walked into the store and announced a robbery, police said in the alert. They stole money from the cash register and items from the store, according to the police.

The latest robbery occurred about 1:15 a.m. Thursday in the 4300 block of North Kimball Avenue. Another robbery took place about 11:20 a.m. Wednesday in the 5600 block of North Kimball Avenue in the Hollywood Park neighborhood, the release said. The third incident happened in the 3400 block of West Irving Park Road about midnight March 3.

The suspects were described as Hispanic, wearing black ski masks, blue or gray long-sleeve shirts or jackets, hoodies, blue or tan jeans and gym shoes. One suspect wore gym shoes with red, white and black colors, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Area North detectives at 312-744-8263.
