BRIEF: Police: 3 charged in West Town armed robbery

June 01--Three men have been charged in an armed robbery that happened in the West Town neighborhood early Tuesday.

Markis Hubbs, 24, 16000 block of Dobson Avenue in south suburban South Holland, Kenyon Armstrong, 18, of the 400 block of East 133rd Street in the Far South Side's Golden Gate neighborhood, and Marquise Key, 19, of the 13100 block of South Eberhart Avenue also in Golden Gate, were all charged with armed robbery, two counts of armed robbery, both of which are felonies, police said. The three also were charged with misdemeanor unlawful use of a weapon.

They are set to appear for a bond hearing at the Leighton Criminal Court Building on Wednesday afternoon.

Hubbs, Armstrong and Key were identified by the victims as the individuals involved in the incident in the 2000 block of West Huron Street at about 3:15 a.m. Tuesday, during which one of the suspects pointed a handgun at the victims and demanded property, police said.

Police officers who had descriptions of the beige SUV they fled in saw it double parked in the 4300 block of South Michigan Avenue a short time later and officers found they had a handgun and property belonging to the victims, police said.
