BRIEF: Police: 2 robberies hit Near North

Feb. 28--Police are warning residents in the Near North neighborhood of two related robberies that happened in the area in February.

The latest robbery happened Feb. 21 in the 800 block of North Franklin Street, and the second incident occurred Feb. 9 about a half-mile away in the 100 block of West Oak Street, according to a news release from the Chicago Police Department.

In both cases, three black men walked up to victims on the street during late evening hours. At least one of the men pulled out a black, semi-automatic handgun and demanded the victims' property, the release said.

The suspects are described in their late teens to early 20s, the release said.

Anyone with information about the robberies should contact Area Central detectives at 312-747-8382.
