Man, woman held on bail, charged with attacking paramedics on Red Line platform

Feb. 09--A man and woman were ordered held in lieu of bail after injuring Chicago Fire Department paramedics Sunday night in the Printers Row neighborhood, according to police and prosecutors.

Robert Adams, of the 200 block of West Harrison Street, and Cherise Finley, of the 1400 block of South Canal Street, were charged with aggravated battery to a protected employee, a felony, according to police.

Adams and Finley appeared for a bond hearing Tuesday at the Leighton Criminal Court Building.

Adams was ordered held in lieu of $90,000 bail and Finley was ordered held in lieu of $75,000 bail, prosecutors said.

It happened about 10:30 p.m. when the paramedics rushed out to a call of an intoxicated woman on the Red Line subway platform in the 600 block of South State Street in the Loop, police and prosecutors said.

As they approached her, an irate man confronted them and began hitting one of them in the face and body and spitting on the paramedics' faces, police said.

Finley allegedly also scratched the paramedics in the face.

The two fled, prompting a brief foot chase, but police took them into custody in the 900 block of South State.

Prosecutors said the injured workers were treated and released from Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
