BRIEF: Photo released of Southwest Side bank robber

June 17--Authorities on Tuesday released a surveillance photo of a man who robbed a Garfield Ridge branch bank late Monday afternoon.

The man robbed the Citibank branch, 5674 S. Archer Ave., about 4:45 p.m. Monday, authorities said.

The man went into the bank and approached a teller, whom he handed a robbery note, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police Department spokeswoman. No weapon was implied or shown. The teller complied with the note's demands and gave the man money, Lemmon said.

The man then fled. No injuries were reported, according to FBI spokeswoman Diane Carbonara.

The suspect was described as a white man in his 30s, 5-foot-5 to 6 feet, with a heavy build. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and a blue and red baseball cap.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Chicago office of the FBI at 312-421-6700 or 911.
