Jan. 31--A man who was riding in a vehicle that looked like a squad car was charged with false impersonation of a police officer after authorities found guns, vests, police badges and uniforms inside his Plainfield home.
Illinois State Police came in contact with Ross D. Ferraro, Thursday during a traffic stop. Ferraro was riding in a vehicle that resembled a police vehicle, according to a release from the Illinois State Police.
Further investigation of Ferraro led to a search warrant being executed at his Plainfield home. When his home was search, several items were found including four firearms, bullet-proof vests, numerous police badges, police uniforms and two cars with emergency lights, the release said.
Ferraro, 45, was charged with false impersonation of a peace officer.
"ISP takes matters related to false personation of a police officer extremely serious," said Master Sgt. Dan Likens. "We ask that anyone who may have had contact with the subject to contact ISP Zone 3 investigations with information at 815-726-6377, " said the release.
