Sept. 19--A Metra train struck and killed a pedestrian in Wheaton on Friday night, Metra officials said.
About 9 p.m., an inbound train on the Union Pacific West line hit the person near Main Street in Wheaton, said Metra spokesman Tom Miller.
Wheaton police said Saturday that they responded about 9:04 p.m. to the scene near Front and Main streets and found the person, a 48-year-old, dead. Police did not provide the person's gender. Police said they believed the death was a suicide.
The train that hit the pedestrian stopped, and inbound and outbound trains on the UP-West line were stopped between West Chicago and Lombard.
