BRIEF: People being questioned after West Side standoff

Aug. 10--Police said more than one person was being questioned after a standoff at a West Side building where police believed an armed man was inside.

The Chicago Police Department SWAT team was on the scene after two officers saw an armed man enter a Lawndale neighborhood building Sunday afternoon.

About 12:40 p.m., two officers saw a man who may have been armed enter a building in the 1200 block of South St. Louis Avenue, said Officer Bari Lemmon, citing preliminary reports.

The neighboring building was evacuated as a precaution, Lemmon said.

As of 5:30 p.m., the situation had ended and more than one person was being questioned, police said.
