BRIEF: Penny's Noodle Shop in Wicker Park to close, become Urbanbelly

Dec. 15--Bill Kim, chef and owner of Urbanbelly and Belly Q in the West Loop and Belly Shack in Logan Square, will open a second Urbanbelly location at 1542 N. Damen Ave. in Wicker Park, his team confirmed.

The new location, originally reported by DNAinfo, will replace Penny's Noodle Shop, which announced on Facebook it will close Jan. 2 after 25 years in business. (The Penny's locations in Lincoln Park and Oak Park will remain open.)

Kim says he will open in early 2016, and will release more details in the new year. Urbanbelly, known for its ramen and dumplings, began as a tiny restaurant in a strip mall in Avondale in 2008 and later moved to share Belly Q's West Loop space.
