Nov. 16--Los Angeles police were trailing a stolen vehicle Sunday night when it struck and killed a pedestrian in the Palms neighborhood and immediately fled the scene, authorities said.
The pedestrian was hit by the vehicle about 8:45 p.m. near Venice Boulevard and Dunn Drive, LAPD Officer Ed Griffin said.
The vehicle, described as a maroon, four-door Buick with a bike rack affixed to the rear, drove away and police continue to search for it, he said.
The pedestrian, whose identity was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene, Griffin said. It's unclear if the pedestrian was crossing the street or walking in the road.
"We don't 100% know," said Griffin, adding that the investigation was in its early stages. "It doesn't look like the car jumped the curb."
