BRIEF: Pedestrian fatally struck by car in Englewood

March 08--A 51-year-old man died Friday night after being hit by a car in Englewood, police said.

The man, identified by the Cook County medical examiner's office as Terrence Edwards of the 800 block of East 88th Street in Chicago, stepped out into traffic near West 69th Street and South Lafayette Avenue about 8:15 p.m. Friday, said Officer Ron Gaines, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.

The man was taken to St. Bernard Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8:49 p.m., officials said. Police could not immediately say if any driver would be cited in connection with the death.

After an autopsy, the medical examiner ruled that Edwards' cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries.
