Nov. 05--A 62-year-old woman died after she was struck by a vehicle involved in a collision on the city's Northwest Side in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood.

According to preliminary reports from Chicago police, about 6:40 p.m., two vehicles were involved in a crash near Austin and Belmont avenues. One of the vehicles hit a woman who was standing on the corner at that location, said police.

The woman was taken to Our Lady of Resurrection Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 7:03 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Officials there identified the woman as Lida Xhelo, of the 6000 block of West Eddy Street.

Police said early Wednesday morning a person was in custody in connection with the death, and charges are pending.
