BRIEF: Paula Patton to star in ABC pilot filming in Chicago

Feb. 24--Paula Patton has been cast as the lead in ABC's drug cartel drama pilot "Runner," according to Variety.

The TV show is based on the Turkish series, "Sons," and is scheduled to film in Chicago next month. Variety reports that Patton -- known for her roles in 2009's "Precious" and 2011's "Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol" -- will play Lauren Marks, "a woman whose perfect life is torn apart by one twist of fate. To uncover the truth, Lauren must follow a trail of lies that take her into the world of cartels and illegal gun trade between the U.S. and Mexico."

"Thirtysomething" actor Peter Horton is one of the executive producers on "Runner." The Chicago-based 4 Star Casting will cast extras for the production.
