May 09--Pau Gasol didn't participate in the Bulls' walkthrough Saturday after an MRI exam confirmed his strained left hamstring.
Coach Tom Thibodeau called Gasol day-to-day, placing his availability for Sunday's Game 4 matinee in jeopardy.
"He's got some soreness," Thibodeau said. "We'll see how he feels (Sunday)."
Gasol could be seen talking to teammates and dressed in practice gear when reporters were granted access to the Advocate Center gym. Gasol didn't address reporters.
Late Saturday night, he sounded pessimistic about playing.
"Early in the first quarter, it started to tighten up," Gasol said. "It really bothered me. I thought it was going to loosen up and I was going to be able to push through it. The more I pushed through it, the worse it got.
"I'm just hoping that it's not a bad tear or anything like that. Hamstrings are tricky and dangerous. Just hoping for the best and trying to stay positive."
Thibodeau wouldn't reveal who would start if Gasol can't play. The safe bet is Taj Gibson.
