May 12--The New England Patriots are taking a stand in the Tom Brady-Deflategate scandal in a very 21st century manner.
They changed their Twitter profile photo to an image of the back of Brady's No. 12 jersey.
Sure, it's a quiet and subtle move, but it also says that owner Robert Kraft wasn't just blowing hot air Monday when he came out with a much more angry and defiant statement against the NFL's four-game suspension of the Patriots' superstar quarterback.
In that statement Kraft called Ted Wells' investigation into the under-inflated balls "one-sided" and that the punishment, which also docked the Patriots $1 million and two draft picks, "far exceeded any reasonable expectation. It was based completely on circumstantial rather than hard or conclusive evidence."
And Kraft finished by saying, "Tom Brady has our unconditional support. Our belief in him has not wavered."
So changing a profile picture on Twitter might not be a gesture on the scale of placing a flower into the barrel of a rifle, but at least the Patriots are taking a stand.
They're showing they have Brady's back -- literally.
