May 04--New DePaul men's basketball head coach Dave Leitao has hired Patrick Sellers as an assistant coach, the school said Monday.
Sellers spent the last two years as an assistant coach at Creighton. He joins associate head coach Rick Carter, who was hired away from Xavier in April, and assistant Billy Garrett, whom Leitao retained from Oliver Purnell's staff when Leitao took over on March 29.
"Coach Sellers is a great addition to our coaching staff here at DePaul," Leitao said in a statement. "His experience not only at Creighton the last two years but throughout his career shows that he coaches and recruits across the country at a high level."
Sellers also has coached at Central Connecticut State (1999-03), Massachusetts (2003-04), Connecticut (2004-10) and Hofstra (2011-13). At UConn, Sellers was credited with helping to recruit players such as Jeremy Lamb, Tyler Olander, Shabazz Napier and Roscoe Smith.
Leitao was rehired as DePaul's coach March 29. He previously coached the Blue Demons for three seasons, the last ending in 2005.
