BRIEF: Parents, friends rally for CPS teacher whose home was destroyed in explosion

Dec. 04--The Chicago Tribune Media Group's Southtown Star is reporting that parents and teachers are trying to raise money for Darlene Sheahan, a Chicago Public Schools teacher whose home in the Morgan Park neighborhood was destroyed Tuesday in a natural gas explosion.

A parent set up a donation box at Sutherland School in the Beverly neighborhood and Chicago Ald. Matt O'Shea, 19th, set up a bank account to raise money for the kindergarten teacher.

No one was injured in the explosion, which officials said happened when a crew installing a new water line struck a gas pipe. For the full story, go to the Southtown Star.
