BRIEF: Panthers' Greg Olsen shaves beard: 'All good things must come to an end'

Feb. 09--Playoff beards are a dime a dozen in the NHL, but in the NFL, not so much. Panthers tight end Greg Olsen kept his beard through the Super Bowl loss, and was glad to be rid of it Tuesday.

The former Bears tight end said during Super Bowl media week that he was ready to say goodbye to the beard, which naturally had its own parody Twitter accounts.

"I'm counting the days. I'm not usually a beard guy. For anyone who knows me, I'm usually relatively cleanshaven most times. But what happened was, all of a sudden, you start the season cleanshaven and next thing you know, as long as we're winning, you can't get a haircut, you can't shave."

No word on whether the beard will return next season.
