BRIEF: Palos Park police warn of thefts from vehicles

Nov. 13--Palos Park police are investigating a trio of thefts from vehicles left unlocked overnight.

Residents in the 12500 and 12700 block of 81st Avenue reported a wallet, coins and tools were taken from three vehicles left unlocked in driveways overnight Tuesday morning, said Palos Park Police Chief Joe Miller.

Two vehicles were in the same driveway and the vehicles were entered between midnight and 3 a.m. Tuesday, police said in a news release. Police are following up on the reports, including a photograph of someone entering a vehicle taken from a security camera at one of the homes, Miller said.

Palos Park police urged residents to remove valuables from their vehicles to make them less attractive targets. Even if the items themselves aren't valuable, thieves may damage cars while trying to get at items inside, police said.
