BRIEF: Palos Park home 'ransacked'

Oct. 29--Palos Park police are looking for a man seen asking for work as a painter near a home that was "ransacked" Tuesday afternoon, police said in a statement.

Police believe the burglary took place between 11:15 a.m. and 2:15 p.m., when the homeowner returned to the house in the 12400 block of 82nd Avenue, found the rear door kicked in and called police, according to the statement.

A neighbor reported a tall, thin, white man in his 40s with blond hair and "painter's clothing" knocked on her door around 1 p.m. and asked if she needed any painting, Palos Park police said. The neighbor declined his offer and no other neighbors were approached by the man, according to the statement.

Palos Park police also said a blue/purple mid-sized four-door car was seen in the victim's driveway between 12:30 and 1 p.m., when the burglary is believed to have taken place.

Anyone who may have information should contact Palos Park Detective Barry Churin, Investigator Fran Marrocco or Investigator Deb Legatzke at 708-671-3770 or 708-448-2191, police said.
