April 11--A Palatine man has been charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, police said.
Palatine police officials said Jose Alfredo Vargas-Guzman, 45, of the 800 block of North Bayside Drive, was accused of inappropriately touching an 11-year-old girl. The incident took place about a month ago when Vargas-Guzman's live-in girlfriend was babysitting the girl, according to Palatine police.
Police said Vargas-Guzman's girlfriend was not aware of the incident.
Vargas-Guzman has never before come in contact with Palatine police, they said.
He received a $250,000 bond at the Rolling Meadows courthouse on April 9, and is next scheduled to appear in court on April 30.
