BRIEF: Oswego man charged with murder-for-hire plan

March 11--An Oswego man has been charged with trying to solicit someone to murder an acquaintance.

Daniel E. Perkins, 40, is charged with solicitation of murder for hire, a Class X felony; solicitation of murder, a Class X felony; and conspiracy to commit witness intimidation, a Class 1 felony.

The bond for Perkins, who is in the Kendall County Jail, was set at $1.5 million.

On July 6, Kendall County sheriff's detectives and Oswego police detectives received information regarding an alleged murder-for-hire incident in the Kendall County Jail, sheriff's officials said. An inmate in the jail was soliciting the murder of an acquaintance, they said.

Sheriff's detectives began a joint investigation with Oswego police detectives, and Perkins was later charged.
