Dec. 04--Adam Jones, star outfielder for the Baltimore Orioles, made an investment in his hometown earlier this year, buying a four-bedroom home in La Jolla for $1.3 million.
Marketed as a "fixer/scraper," the 1963 rancher occupies more than a third of an acre at the end of a cul-de-sac, with partial ocean views. The single-story floor plan includes four bedrooms and two bathrooms in about 2,000 square feet of living space.
Outdoors, the grounds contain a patio and a pool. There's also a two-car garage.
The property was originally priced at $1.389 million, records show. Michael Moot of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties was the listing agent. Katie Craften of Prudential Dunn represented Jones in the sale, according the the Multiple Listing Service.
The San Diego native, 29, starred at Morse High School and was later selected by the Mariners in the first round of the 2003 amateur draft. A four-time All-Star and Gold Glove Award-winner, he batted .281 with 29 home runs and 96 RBIs for the Orioles last season.
Jones also maintains a 2,555-square-foot residence in Phoenix and a five-bedroom estate in Lutherville-Timonium, Md., that he purchased last year for $1.75 million.
