Nov. 04--Oracle Productions has announced its 2016 season of free Public Access Theatre productions.
Eugene O'Neill's "The Hairy Ape" (Jan. 23 -- March 12) opens the season. Monty Cole will direct the play about a laborer's mission to escape the working class with a cast of all African-American men including Tony Santiago, Julian Parker, Bradford Stevens, Rashaad Hall, Michael Turrentine and Breon Arzell.
Next up is Federico Garcia Lorca's "The House of Bernarda Alba" (June 4 -- July 23) in a new adaptation by Emily Mann. The play about a village of impassioned Spanish women in mourning will be directed by laura k smith.
Closing out the season is "The Kindling," (Oct. 15 -- Dec. 3) an original musical written by Nigel O'Hearn with music by Nicholas Tonozzi, composer of Oracle's "The Jungle." Artistic director Max Truax will direct the premiere about three women who work in a sweatshop and their fight for equality in the workplace.
All performances will take place at Oracle Theatre, 3809 N. Broadway.
