BRIEF: Onetime Elizabeth Taylor home in Palm Springs is up for short-term stays

July 24--Those captivated by screen giant Elizabeth Taylor can spend a week in a Palm Springs home she once owned for about $5,200, depending on the season, or by even the night.

The walled and gated estate in the Las Palmas neighborhood contains art objects, photography, oil paintings and other possessions that belonged to the film star. A painting of two deer in the snow in one of the guest rooms was painted by Taylor.

The home and detached casita feature a formal living room with a fireplace and walls of glass, four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms.

The more than half acre of grounds contain a swimming pool with fountains and a spa. There's also an outdoor kitchen, shower and wet bar.

Taylor, who died four years ago at 79, made an indelible mark in film with such movies as "National Velvet" (1944), "A Place in the Sun" (1951), "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" (1958), "Cleopatra" (1963) and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" (1966).

McLean Company Rentals has the listing.
