Jan. 22--A driver and a passenger were shot inside a vehicle Wednesday in South Los Angeles, causing the vehicle to crash into a fire hydrant, authorities said.
The shooting took place just before 4:50 p.m. near the intersection of 54th Street and Denker Avenue in the Vermont Square neighborhood, Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman Officer Liliana Preciado said.
One occupant of the vehicle was found dead at the scene, and another person was taken to the hospital in an unknown condition, Preciado said.
