BRIEF: Olive Garden employees held at gunpoint during robbery

Jan. 13--Employees at an Olive Garden in Montebello were held at gunpoint Monday by a man who stole cash from the restaurant, authorities said.

About 8:15 a.m., a man entered the restaurant in the Shops at Montebello in the 1800 block of South Montebello Boulevard, according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Five employees who were working before the restaurant opened were held up at gunpoint by the man, who also accosted several employees, sheriff's officials said.

Investigators were reviewing surveillance footage from the restaurant and the mall to identify the suspect.

It's not known how much money was taken or how the man fled.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact Lt. Rodriguez of the sheriff's department's Major Crimes Bureau at (562) 946-7008.
