BRIEF: Officer shot apprehending Colorado triple fatal shooting suspect

Dec. 13--A sheriff's deputy was shot in Colorado on Friday while attempting to apprehend a suspect in a triple slaying that happened earlier in the week, authorities said.

The Adams County deputy suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, said Denver police spokesman Ron Hackett.

The suspect was identified as Furmen Leyba, according to the Adams County Sheriff's Office.

Leyba and Gabriel Flores are both suspects in the triple shooting Wednesday morning in Westminster, a Denver suburb. Authorities said all the victims were adults but released few other details about the slayings.

Flores was arrested after a high-speed chase Wednesday night in Jefferson County, west of Denver, according to authorities.

He is being held without bond on suspicion of first-degree murder, according to the Adams County Sheriff's Office
