BRIEF: Chicago police officer hurt in Northwest Side crash

July 30--A Chicago police officer was injured Wednesday night in a car crash in the Mayfair neighborhood, police said.

About 11:20 p.m., the officer was in a squad car going south on North Pulaski Road with the emergency signals activated, police said.

At Pulaski Road and Montrose Avenue, a vehicle going west on Montrose collided with the squad car, according to Officer Amina Greer, a spokeswoman for the Chicago Police Department.

The officer was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

A 20-year-old man is in custody after the incident, and citations are pending. The man also was taken to Lutheran General, and his condition had stabilized, Greer said.
