BRIEF: Officer hospitalized after Loop traffic crash

Feb. 13--A Chicago police officer was hospitalized with minor injuries after a car crash Thursday night in the Loop.

The officer, who was responding to a call, was driving a police SUV with its emergency lights on in the 0-100 block of North Lower Wacker Drive when the driver of a Lincoln sedan traveling southbound struck the SUV, said Officer Amina Greer, a Chicago Police Department spokeswoman.

One officer was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition, police said. The officer was later released.

The driver of the Lincoln, a 28-year-old man, was also taken to Northwestern hospital where he was treated and released. Police said citations against the 28-year-old driver were pending early Friday.
