BRIEF: Oak Brook's TreeHouse Foods closing California plant

Nov. 18--TreeHouse Foods, a major private-label food maker based in Oak Brook, said Wednesday that it's closing a California plant, cutting 62 jobs.

The plant in City of Industry, Calif., makes non-dairy creamers and refrigerated salad dressings. TreeHouse expects the closing to cost $11.9 million, which it plans to record on its books over the next year.

Production will stop in the first three months of next year, with a full closing slated for fall.

TreeHouse, which recently agreed to buy ConAgra's private-label business for $2.7 billion, estimates the shutdown to save it $1 million per year.
